Wow, my LBS is awesome, and a Campy Eurus question

I went into my lbs today to talk to the owner about a crit the team might like to do, and we got talking about wheelsets. I told him I'm interested in a set of Campy Eurus, and he asked me what price I found online. When he saw he couldn't match the price, he told me to buy them online instead of from him. He then told me to be careful that it isn't NOS and that it really is as advertised, but that it's an awesome deal and he understands why I'd take the deal over what he could offer me. How cool is that?

And, the question: Will a SRAM cassette fit on a record hub?

Why would you want a Scram - to save some $$? Get a Campy cogset and be happy; it'll shift better than the Scram.

I already have a SRAM cassette, and don't want to get a new one if I don't have to. And, I run Shimano, so I don't know how they'd handle having a campy cassette. The SRAM holds the chain and shifts well, I like it.

can't you get the Eurus with a shimano-splined freehub body?
if so your SRAM will slide right on.

Thanks.

They're great wheels, you won't be disappointed. Hope you haven't lost too much upper body strength though - you'll need it to get the tyres on :D

Yes, the Eurus is available in both campy and shimano splined... so just get the shimano splined and you'll be good to go.

They're made that way on purpose - to give us with the strong legs/weak upper body a workout every few months. :D

What's NOS mean?

New Old Stock. Generally means something that's out-of-production, but has been sitting around for awhile and is new in the box.

To the best of my knowledge, the non-carbon Eurus have not changed at all from last year's model (Wurm correct me if I am mistaken on that) so if I can get NOS at a discount, I am game. Personally, I got my Eurus at http://www.repartocorse.com for $719.

Anyone have experience dealing with Eurobikeparts.com? Do they really honor their price match policy? And do they figure in shipping costs from other websites when price matching?

You're right on that, the '05 Eurus is the same as the '04 AFAIK. The carbon Eurus just has the carbon hub shell and different color scheme - otherwise it's the same as standard Eurus.
