OK, so is wearing a pro team kit gonna look cheesy?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I need a new blue jersey to match the rest of my kit and since i have been watching the tour i was thinking about either Discovery or Gerolostiener. If I ride around in a Discovery jersey am i gonna look like a poser?

Not at speeds over 30 mph. Then you'd look fine.

do you really want to know?

'tis better to be fast and understated than slow and overstated.

you live in a small town ...people will talk. "look honey! I told you Lance lived here!"

Not cheesy if you're part of the pro team. Otherwise what's the point? Although I admit that Gerolsteiner jersey is kind of sharp.

If you are going 10 mph on a bike path, not that you would, wearing that yeah people might mock you and it probably will look silly, but I think most of us are out of junior high, except for that one guy smoothie was chatting it up with, so what should you care what random people, especially random people on the internet think. If you like it, wear it.

hate? hate bad ...love good.

dropping the snide remarkers works fine until some old lady pulling a Burley loaded with her dog and a milk crate strapped to the rear rack loaded with groceries drops you.

When that happens, you know its gonna suck bad.

well its not going to be a problem most of the time becuase there is probably all of 20 people in my whole area who could recignize a Disco jersey and about 5 who could ID the Gerolstiener one. but when i do come across other riders when i go up to boise and stuff I dont want to look lame.

I wear a pair of Davitamon Lotto bibs. Don't have the jersey though. The bibs are probably the most comfortable pair I have - better than my Santinis and PIs. I don't give a toss what anyone thinks when I wear them. Having said that, I don't wear them at the races. Maybe thats hypocritical of me but something holds me back from wearing them at races where I race unattached.

What a completely uneducated and ignorant response... Why do you even bike because I doubt you work for your bike company. It definately woudl be "BAD FORM" to ride a bicycle that you did not build yourself. How about the car you drive? Let me guess, you must work for an automobile company because it would be really "BAD FORM" to drive a car made by a company that you do not work for. Your "Birthday Suit" must be your clothing of choice because walking around in another manufacturers clothing is in bad taste since you don't work for any of them.

Wear the Jerseys that you like... who cares what other people think. Jersey's are sold to be worn and to show your support for the respective teams.

well Discovery has agreed to let me buy there jersey from their online store for 100 bucks plus shipping and Gerostiener will let me have their jersey for 80 bucks. both of these are very enticing offers.

Typically, the sponsor is supposed to pay you to represent them. Hope this helps.

Get the Gerolsteiner with the red booties. That is a nice breakup and a relief from that turquoise.

Some people can justify $100 (USD) jerseys... I honestly can't. Especially since they don't look that good in the first place.

To me it's like wearing a pro football team jersey or a baseball jersey. In fall/winter, you can't swing a dead cat around here without hitting someone in a Packer's jersey with old number 4 on the back. I'm pretty sure most of these folks aren't Brett Favre. No one will mistake you for Levi Leipheimer (sp?)... especially if they know who Levi is, or what and who Gerolsteiner is. If you're a fan, you're a fan... wear it with pride. If or when you get dropped by the elderly couple on a tandem carrying a thirty pound melon up a hill, that may sting a bit. But wear with it pride.

Maybe there should be a cycling jersey that just says "team" like the sweatshirt Belushi wore in Animal House that said "college." Maybe a matching kit that says "unattached" that some of us could wear to the races.
