Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Stuck left bottom bracket cup ( mega exo fds bb-6000) on carbon frame

Hi bikeforum community,

I have a problem with a stuck/seized bottom bracket left cup.

bike: Merida Scultura 905e carbon frame
Part: FSA MegaExo BB-6000 Road BSA 68 mm width (1.37" x 24T)

What happened?
when trying to unscrew the left cup ( using the correct tool BTWIN 500) turning it to the left ( direction of pedaling) with the bike on the floor the cup didn’t turn and has gone smooth ( lost the profile).

What did I try already?
using other toolset, using Wd-40.
nothing succeed and it looks like that cup is glue to the frame .

i am reading that one last resort solution could be to use a hacksaw and carefully take it out by sawing it. This seems pretty scary when talking about a carbon frame.
would you have something different you can recommend for me to try?

thank you in advance
Galo

Both cups rotate forward on a BSA bottom bracket to loosen. You were turning it in the wrong direction. I can't tell you how often I've done that since most of my bikes are Italian. In order to get it off make SURE you know what direction to turn it, lock the cup into a bench vice and turn it off. Normally there is no damage to anything but the cups.
