--You have 10 sec to stop me--

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

1. Lot's of ripoffs in Ebay.
2. Don't do it unless you're sure this bike fits you.
3. Brand new 2005 R700 is about $1200 - and you get warranty and ability to get LBS to fix/adjust - that's worth at least $200 to me.

Seems like a great price espec. w/ the upgrades. And it seems that this person has sold a lot of bike parts and a few bikes with excellent feedback. If the size is right, it would appear to be a good deal. If you win, congrats and welcome to the club of r700 owners. Most of us really love the bike and there is another thread about the r700 specifically, I would love to hear your comments about the bike if you get it.

Agreed.

That bike isn't going to be a bargain. If you could get it for 2/3 retail, I'd consider it, but at that close to retail no way. Already at $860 + $75 shipping, with 14 hours to go, so it'll probably go over $1000 before it closes. Still a reasonable deal, but if you don't know bikes, the support you get from the LBS will be worth the extra money you'd spend.

Has a few decent accessories (computer, pedals if you don't already have some), but you can pick up these accessories pretty cheap yourself. Crank and FD upgrades are neither here nor there IMHO... the stock components on an R700 are fine.

1. If you can pick it up, you don't have to worry about ripoffs. Just pay cash when you pick it up. If it is being sold by a bike shop, even better. Make sure you ask the seller if local pickup is available. If he says no, don't buy it. It could be stolen or a scam.
2. Agreed. I assume you know the size you need.
3. July is not the time to buy a 2005 bike on Ebay. In February, you can usually get a new bike for 50 - 70 percent off if you shop around. This is the time when bike shops clear out their old merchandise to make way for new stock. If you are sure you want a 2005 model now, go to your LBS, since you're not saving much anyway.
