Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bike sizing.

I plan on ordering online, because we only have one bike shop in town, and I am wondering somethings.

Sorry if there is a bunch of these threads, I am new here, so take it easy please .

I am 5'11" and my pants length is about 32 (i donno if leg length matters). I am wondering what size frame I would need... i plan on using it for training for hockey.

Bike fit is important enough that, especially given you are just getting into road biking, you find an LBS with a decent fitting tech to get professionally fit. It's worth a drive (or waiting if you're travelling any time soon to a bigger city with more bike shops)...

If you must buy w/o getting fit, use a fitting calculator available on line (do a search for Zinn's, or has one, etc.). Just remember that you may want a more upright fit (shorter TT, higher bar) than the calculator recommends since they are often giving typcial racing sizes. [Back to the recommendation to go find a LBS with the models you're interested in and get fit. ]
