Retro Cycling Shoes
Just found and bought me a mint condish old school cycling shoes. Anyone here still uses these type of shoes? I think this belongs in the 90’s era. TIA

Sorry, but old school is more like shoes with plastic cleats for toe clip pedals, not clipless pedals.

Wanted a pair of cheaper Detto shoes, but they were cut too narrow for my big dogs. Dropped another $12 on a pair of Spenco mesh gloves. The kind that gave you tan marks so horrible some people thought you had a skin conditiion. Still had money left over to take my girlfriend out. Life was good. |

I don't know if the look was cycling retro, but the shoes Bryan Coquard was wearing in the 2016 TDF were definitely general retro looking.

In 87 I'd already been using Look Delta clipless pedals for over a year.

Lake has some lace-ups that are inspired by some of their older shoes. If the red/black come back in stock in my size, I might have to pick up a pair -

https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...0f81c5d0c.jpeg I set up a bike for a buddy- '90s road bike. Found some shoes/pedal similar to those in a free box and put them on his bike. Not sure if they're still in use, but probably. |
Borderline retro maybe, I still have these Northwaves from about 20 years ago. Look cleats and the coloring matched my Cannondale R-1000.

If I could go back in time, my favorite (now retro) road shoe were my old LOOK shoes. I don't recall the model, but at the time I think I was obsessed with the color scheme. I'd like to see a modern version of these shoes only in black instead of gray...
https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...8b450ecffb.jpg My previous shoes were a pair of Avocet shoes that worked with toe clips. They had ridges on the bottom that were supposed to hook on the back lip of the pedal. I hate toe clips and I'm glad they're dead! https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...33b9728800.jpg |

Nah. "Old school" is lace-up leather shoes with nailed on metal cleats. I wore these on my fixed-gear ride today: |

In between I had a pair of the cheapest 3-bolt shoes that Decathlon sold, that had the most uncomfortable plywood sole of any footwear I’ve ever had; but they allowed me to clip in and that’s what counted. |
Bata biker shoes
I miss these old shoes. Rubber soled when you needed to walk without the metal clips scratching floors.
