Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

For hiking or Nordic or randonee skiing get the Fenix for navigation and barometer. If those aren't important the 945 is a generation newer (?) so better software features.

I use a Coros as a back-up to my wahoo. It's a smaller player in the market, but pretty cost effective and has an excellent battery life. The entry level Pace model has 25 hours GPS (I charge about once a week), and 30 days non-GPS use. The higher end models have an even longer battery life.

I use a Fenix 6X, my wife uses a Forerunner 945.
They largely do the same thing. The 945 is much smaller, weighs a lot less and as a result has a fraction of the battery life.
I bought the 6X because my last device was a low end of another brand and I was constantly kicking myself for cheaping out, so I forked out the cash and bought the best I could find.

I was able to save 20% by purchasing through a link in the wellness program for my health insurance (Blue Cross calls it "blue 365 deals"). Not all devices are available, but there is a fair selection.
Other health insurers have similar programs.

Thank you everybody. I ended up buying Fenix 5X. So far I like the watch.
