DB Wheel upgrade
Hi everyone,
I’m considering an upgrade of my Fulcrum Racing 900 DB to something lighter and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. I’m examine 2 sets, a Fulcrum Racing 3 DB vs DT Swiss PR 1600 spline DB 23. On paper Fulcrums are slightly heavier and not tubeless competable, but I don’t see many DT swiss equipped bikes, when I hit the road and I didn’t have had the experience with DT swiss (I had Fulcrum Racing 7 equipped bike for several years). I don’t look for extreme low weight or aero features, but for reliability and ease of maintenance, so a regular mechanic could service them and of course have no plans to ride gravel with a road bike. What is in the best option in your opinion the budget of 350 – 400 Euros? Thanks’ in advice |
I'm no expert but I am happy with these. High quality, durable, light enough and they did not cost more than my bike.

Different articles, different information. However, they may have upgraded their rims for 2020.
P.S. Nice bike, the color match is perfect! |
I have a set of FFWD F3As, they've been great. 1560g, DT350 hubs, 19mm internal, tubeless ready (comes with tape and valves, running mine with tubes tho), stiff and smooth, no rotor rub out of the saddle. Sign up for PBKs email list, they send out discount codes all the time, got mine for $450.

https://www.probikekit.com/bicycle-w.../12191003.html However, looked up on FFWD's own website, says the depth is 27mm. Not a big deal, but curious what actual depth is? https://ffwdusa.com/product/f3/f3ad-tlr-dt350/ |

Interesting wheelset for the price. At first was wondering if this is another wheel brand built on Kinlin XR31s.. with the 19/25 rim widths and ~31 depth.

DT Swiss makes a bunch of premium-OEM wheels now for Canyon and Cervelo and probably others. I’m sure they’re fine, probably better than Mercury or whatever.

If you are considering the Fulcrum 3, you should also look at the Campy Zonda. Basically the same wheel but for some reason a little cheaper.

Unless they've been updated, they're narrower (17mm vs 19mm int) and not 2-way/tubeless.

Huh, I guess the sirocco is the closer version. A little heavier though.

Campy/Fulcrum have a pretty odd thing.. they have "2-Way Fit READY", and straight "2-Way Fit". Scirocco's are the 'Ready' variety, meaning that for whatever reason, these wheels can only be run Tubeless (officially) with very specific setup/tires. And, for whatever reason, I think that from their alloy offerings, Shamal DB wheels may be the first option (least expensive) available that offers a straight 2-Way Fit model (of note, the Shamal 2-way is a separate model/sku from the nonTL model).

Sorry, but although the Campagnolo Scirocco DB are very beautiful wheels, they weight almost as my current Fulcrum Racing 900 (1877g) and Shamal is beyond the budget :(
