Sounds what I just went through. My pain started in the lower back, right side, and then progressed down as far as my knee along the back of my leg. I tried epidurals, PT (useless), but finally had surgery three weeks ago. Still recovering, but the surgery appears to have worked since the nerve pain is gone and only a little soreness near the incision remains.

If you want what my doctor called a "durable" solution, surgery appears to be the only option.

That's exactly how mine went too, except mine went down into my instep. I could walk, but my right leg wasn't much use. I went to the doc, he wasn't much help. He might be a bit behind the times, as he said as long as I could walk, he wouldn't recommend surgery. So I researched stretching and exercise and did same, as explained above.. Also seems to be a durable solution.

Yeah, tried that. Six weeks of PT, shots, etc. Nothing worked. Except getting cut, which I'm hoping is the permanent fix.
