If you forget to check your front wheel quick connect, don't try any wheelies.
This was before "Lawyer lips" or the tabs that keep the wheel from falling out. |

mscycler I rode home 5km once incluiding going up and down quite a steep hill without my front wheel QR being locked in properly. I've never been more thankful for small miricles! EDIT: actually I just remembered that it was on my track bike not road so what I had done was to finger tighten the front wheel and then forget about it. The thing that scared me in hindsight is that I had decended a very steep hill with a major road at the bottom which you HAVE to stop for and while I did have a front caliper brake fitted the thought that all the braking force was on a wheel that was only finger tight gave me the hebejebies. Another tip: If you observe a car doing something stupid in traffic, assume that the next thing that driver does also will be stupid, and so on...

I just trackstand at lights, no decision involved. =)

n00bs: Bunnyhopping is more useful than you think.

I always unclip both feet as I'm coming to a stop. I have too many scars on my knees to go the one foot route again.
Good advice about the inhaler! I just keep the inhaler in a plastic baggy in my jersey to keep the sweat from gooping up the label. I should probably keep them in separate pockets anyway.... |
When i come to a stop i only unclip one, stop, then unclip both if im getting off the bike. Cuz if i take both out its puts a lot of pressure on the boys...
Small tool kit is always good to carry, and if you just rebuilt a bike, a friend following you on first couple rides to catch falling parts is nice... |
