Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

No longer a Spring Chicken!

While I've had my sports injuries (dislocated kneecap playing soccer, stress fracture a' la speedwork), I experienced a bad spot of heat exhaustion for the first time recently. When I saw my doctor (just to make sure it wasn't something else) she said, "You're no longer a Spring Chicken. You gotta take more precautions now that you're a little older." Ouch! Too bad we can't combine the experience we gain over the decades with the body we had in our teens.

Note to self, abuse 22-year old body while I can.

You're lucky -- most of my doctors' response to sports injuries is not to participate.

That's why you don't see a doctor
