Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yesterday I was listening to someone who works at a doctor's office talk about how they were getting vaccines. She said she wasn't going to take it now, maybe later (if it's safe).

To be honest,, I just paired everything and it all worked. That in of itself is a large victory. Im going to read up on it a bit and then try a ride..
Any advice ot help you want to hive me I'm open to.. This virtual world stuff is all new to me. Thank you

If the trainer can pair with your laptop that will make life easier. You can download Zwift and other products like Rouvy etc and most will offer a free trial. You can likely run them from your smartphone if computer can’t pair. Play around with it.

One other tip: I noticed that the very strong clamping force of the trainer got weaker with time. I do advise you release the QR of the trainer when not in use to reduce “stretch” on the trainer.

I'm north of 240 lbs atm. I'm only light compared to automobiles and tanks.
I am currently on a quest to get back down to 200 or less by spring. There is a Saturday ride I used to belong to that I cant do at this weight due to the speed and climbing. I want to go back to crushing souls I miss it.

Best part of having the Snap is getting rid of the Kinetic garbage.
That nonsense they pulled on me last year,, when I couldt get this garbage to pair correctly with my Wahoo Element. That was bad. But then to not clue me in when I was exchanging emails with thier techs. Just let me flap in the breeze. That was unforgivable. I was Sooooo frustrated. 165 mph indeed.
Bite me Kurt.

I would consider an Addiction meetup group ride on Zwift, but I fear I would be dropped like a stone.

60 miles a day is more realistic

Send her this.

The phase 3 trials of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine involved 42,000 people, about half of whom got the experimental vaccine and the rest a placebo. In total, 170 people fell ill with covid-19. Only eight of them were in the vaccine group; 162 had received the placebo. So around 5 per cent of cases were in the vaccine group, which is where the 95 per cent figure comes from. That is a very healthy number: the World Health Organization (WHO) has said it would be happy with 50 per cent.

Some day when I get a trainer I'll join such a group ride. That will lower the bar for you by a large margin.

The rims are pretty wide, internally - 23mm - and that's the PSI for me at 180-185lbs. When I was in the 200lb region, with 17mm int width rims, I was running 28s at +/- 75psi. That wasn't bad, either, but the wider rims feel much more sure-footed when cornering.

This just in.
If you really have to party, Cancun is wide open, with significantly higher occupancy than a year ago. I wonder what the protocols are for folks returning to the states. Likely none. Such gaping holes in policy.

Agree. I can do 100 miles/day for a month to cross the USA. Maybe some day.

Forever, in the back of my mind, is a way to convince the wife to let me bike across the country or hike the length of the AT. Maybe some day, indeed.

4 of us toured across the US in 1990. I was 36 and about 220# at the start and my bike was about 50 or 55#. We did lot of 80-100 mile days. We stayed in motels except a couple times when people offered us lodging at their homes.
One of our group was 53, I think. He turned out to be a pita to travel with but he was strong enough for the miles. 3 of us got giardia and had to treat it while travelling, Ultimately contributed to me quitting @ 3000 miles when we were visiting my friend's cousin in Kentucky and I went to visit my friend in Arkansas before flying home.

We had 2 rest days which were unnecessary. Once you ride several hours a day for a while it becomes routine, as long as you don't overdo it and ride your own pace.

Some friends did it before my group and they were all at least in their 50s. One of them wrote a book about it and the cover has a picture of them.

I always thought I would like to do at least part of the Continental Divide trail, I think you can do some of it unsupported.
