Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It’s been 24 hours since I got my COVID19 shot. Arm is a little sore and I feel just a smidge achy. Similar to what I get after a flu shot.

Strange, but that's not really an example of something not working as it was billed to do.

Have you ever diagnosed someone with neurasthenia? (cited here)

Neurasthenia is an anachronistic diagnosis. We don’t use that term anymore.

If you had lived 140 years earlier, you might have found plenty of people with it.

We need to try the new Biryani joint in our neighborhood. If it's as good as our current joint, it would reduce our Biryani pickup commute distance from 1.5 miles to 0.5 mile.

There is that all over Southern California. Some of our rides pass miles and miles of multi million dollar homes. It's an easy ride to Beverly Hills or the beach communities. We ride under the tennis court overhang at Aaron Spelling's former estate, which sold for $100 million.
The house I posted is in one of the lowest priced areas of L.A. county that's not in the Mojave desert. It's not a super high crime area but I wouldn't want to walk around there at night. It's iffy during the day.
A 1 bedroom apartment in a decent area is about $2300 per month.

I think I'm doing something wrong with this snap trainer. I did a hour on it today, @ level 4, 24 mph average, Strava says 340 watts average. Wahoo says 190 watts average with a peak of 605 watts.
Pumped the tire. Did a spin test. Started ride. Was hard at first. So resistance is working. I upped my weight to 250 lbs.
Raise the level?

I've never worn through the brake track on a road wheel, they always crack or fail some other way. Now, the rear wheel on my Seven is thumping pretty bad when braking. I can't think of any other reason for the thump other than a thin spot in the rim. It's an Open Pro.

When I've worn through mtb rims they get a bad thump.

That's quite the discrepancy; no offense, but I'd lean towards the 190w figure as 340w would be pretty monstrous. Do you have a power meter? I'm not understanding where these two different figures might be coming from. If you're just doing intervals or steady efforts, have you though about just doing erg mode?

So would I. How does Strava even know from power, if not from the Kickr?

I did erg yesterday for 30 minutes and the wattage was off yesterday too. No , I don't own a power meter it was a steady ish ride.
I'll probably try erg again tomorrow and see if it makes a difference

Some form of calculation is my guess.

When I do a trainer workout, Strava gets the power data from the trainer. The only thing it calculates is the weighted average power, which is always higher than the straight mean power for the ride.

I am trying to decide if I should post the “Annual Pissing Contest” thread with guidelines this year. I have done it the past few years, maybe it’s time to pass the baton?

Mine are that you should only include real miles, no trainer miles.

I would believe the Wahoo, and I would ignore both the speed and distance.
