Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I was a bit conflicted. One one hand, I'm 64 with a history of asthma and some residual changes on pulmonary function testing, but on the other, I'm really fit as hell, can work from home, and have very little patient contact. Then comes this message from the hospital CEO saying basically, don't hold back, we won't get more until the supply is used up and we need to move fast to get shots to everyone. That convinced me. Don't know when LSS will get hers, but I figure having me protected protects her.

A friend of ours had some really serious cardiac issues starting in late 2019, the type where the docs were concerned that he would die. He's recovered pretty well, but still has to be careful with things. His wife was in the Pfizer trials, so they've been watching it closely. He saw the place pop up on the state's Covid website as a place to get the vaccine. He went to check it out, and then let us know that it was open to anyone.

So, my wife, son and I ran right down there and got it. The other people there were all ages, and there was not any type of screening. It seemed like they were just trying to get as many vaccinated as possible. They even had signs out front advertising the vaccine was available.

I was prepared to wait, but was thinking another opportunity might not come up for a while. I have been concerned about Covid due to my age and history of hypertension and CKD (50% function). My wife has also been concerned since she is responsible for her mom who is in a nursing home due to a stroke and Alzheimer's. The way this place was administering it, I don't think that I got ahead of somebody who needs it more.

Sounds like a good call. I have read that supplies of the Pfizer vaccine have been going where there's freezer capacity, so it's been spotty.

I’m probably due for some, but I’m really cheap about certain things.

Well I went anyways, wasn't nearly as cold as last night. Probably 25° instead of 20°

I think an hour and a half at those temps is all I really want to do though.

He probably had to go to the bathroom.
