Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Went on my usual 55 mile jaunt on a crispy fall day. Weather was perfect all through the ride. I suffered some cramps (my first time) and had some trouble stopping the bike and unclipping without falling dowm :-). I had only carried water instead of electrolytes and though I had worked my way through a bottle and half, did not realize how much salts I lost. Lesson learnt. Other than that, it was a beautiful ride and there were plenty of cyclists enjoying the day in Westchester yesterday.

Tried to get out early and was expecting some light morning rain in SoCal; I had a shorter 25 mile route picked out in case it rained harder than expected. Sure enough at mile 16, the rain gods decided to unload a torrent and hail so I had to call it off. Fortunately I wasn't very far from the house so I quickly went home.

I went out for a short ride here in Southern Cali as they were calling for rain. At mile 10 I hit a wall of wind , no rain. I continued for another 6-7 miles and stopped at my shop and drove home. I was on my ItalVega and that bike slices the wind as good as anything I own , still quite a workout. Actually it felt good to be out in some real weather! It was about 40 degrees F. and I felt it, Joe
