Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Trek 1000, 2006?

Does any one have any idea whether the 2006 model of the Trek 1000 is out. The guy at my LBS said that they are releasing the at all different times and wasn't sure. I want to order mine when the 2006 comes out..

Any comments and stuff welcome.

Thanks a lot!

Why do you want a '06 model when you can save a buddle on a '05 when the '06 is realeased. Typically when '06 is realease all last year bikes get marked down alot. The difference between teh bikes are probably so minimal its not even worth the money.

This guy....has a point. As for the original poster, the Trek 1000 is a great starter bike. It lasted me four years. Find an 05 at an LBS and they will practically pay you to move it. Out with the old, in with the new. Space is at a premium.

problem is, they order every road bike for a customer, and if they back out.. then they sell it on the floor. They aren't a big shop.

Also size can be an issue. Trek has no more 58 cm in the 1000 for 05, that can be ordered anyway. I was looking at the 1000 but with that problem and them not knowing when the 06 would be released I ended up getting a Lemond Etape.

Not to be argumentative, but if he were going to follow your advice to wait until the '06 comes out and buy an '05, he'd still need to know if the '06 were out yet.
