I started out tonight's ride with no particular plan, but after I'd warmed up and done the spindown, I saw the signs for "Epic KOM", so I though, "Why not?" Turns out it was the opposite - harder - direction from the one I'd done last week in Stage 3 of TdZ. Instead of long stretches of 4-7%, there were long stretches of 9-11%! I kept thinking "Shouldn't there be a flat part about now?" but there never was. I kept going, made it to the top, and then, as if that wasn't enough suffering, did the Radio Tower climb. All I can say about it is, to paraphrase The Bard - "All's Well That Ends."
I wanted to see what my downhill speed would be at my real height of 6 feet - as opposed to the 3 feet I'd accidentally entered before doing it last week. I did the same thing as last week - spin up to 40 mph then stop pedalling and go into "Super Tuck". Last week, I hit a top speed of 67 mph, as a cannonball. This week, max speed was 55 mph. Height doping really works! 12 mph difference!

In the end I'm kind of glad I didn't buy it since it's specifically a cyclocross bike, not a gravel bike. I think tire clearance is limited to around 40mm and my friend says that even on the size 58 he's got toe overlap.
Plus I've raced cyclocross enough to know that I don't really like it

I opted for an indexed rear 600 derailleur so I was running 1x6. IIRC, I liked the indexing and didn't have a bar end shifter for it. I doubt Shimano even had one at the time., I know that I had bar ends on my ALAN and my Cinelli but didn't on this bike. This bike handled amazingly well for a last minute, thrown together, re-purposed touring bike.

It’s interesting for me to hear all of these crappy things that happen on MUPs. There’s a short section of the Zim Smith MUP that I normally hit here as a quick cut through to avoid a couple of roads and I have never once had an issue. People are polite and move well out of the way.
I believe that’s only physically possible if one were to fold the pizza in half to make it into a sammich.

I haven't seen it bad enough that the bar needed to be replaced. But, it happens.
