When is Velo Vol coming back??

I hope it reveals something which results in the doc saying "Oh, I see. I got this!"

I have a theory on the whereabouts of Velo Vol I think he is busy scouring the internet looking for the perfect Christmas gift for me. It's never to soon to do the right thing. My other guess is he has run off with la chica.

They are just cars at the end of the day. Somebody always has more and somebody always has less, no matter where one falls on the spectrum. I've known some really rich people with the coolest of toys who were very miserable in their lives.

Character is much more important.

Back from a 5 mile hike with mrs datlas. The sky is such a beautiful dark shade of blue. I did not Strava the walk, does that mean it didn’t happen?

Love this album. Used it for demos quite a bit, too.

Windy, but had a good group ride. Wasn't nearly as sore as I'd expected and even felt frisky enough to run at a few town signs. Also, doesn't the Cervelo look 153% hotter with the trimmed steerer? :love:

Has anybody had an experience with GP3000? My ritchey came with a brand new, havnt seen the light since 2006 pair, Size 23. Plan on using them unless they are prone to explosions. I was actually hoping to throw my 28 gators on but I don’t think I’ll have the clearance.

Not personally but if they have been in a cool dark place I expect they should be ok. You may want to inflate to “max” as a stress test and inspect. If all good, drop to preferred PSI and ride on!

where did all the snow go?

It's been a beautiful day for a ride, so I decided to take the Cannondale for a spin. My thought was to do a 16-25 mile out-and-back, and then switch to another bike. But I was having so much fun, I decided to keep going and do the whole ride on the C'dale! I took along 4,5, and 6mm Allen keys for any adjustments to saddle or stem/bars, as well as a screwdriver for things like limit screws or brake centering screws. Never touched 'em. I think I set it up perfectly!

I did manage to dig up a pair of 25mm Contis, so I ran those today instead of the 20 year old, dry-rotted Vredesteins. I would not have risked a 51 mile ride with those! Ran them at 90/95 F/R and that made a big difference. I'm not going to mistake the C'dale for the Canyon, but I didn't feel like I could read the print on manhole covers with my ass, like it was riding with 23s at 120 psi! The ride is firm, but with the lower psi no longer 'skippy' on rough pavement. Still not gonna take it off road!

I spent the first 2-4 miles trying to make the brake levers shift, before getting used to the DT shifters. They're so simple with the indexing! *click*-*clank*, and you're in the new gear. The front was even smoother than with STIs or Ergos - move the lever and the chain is on the new chainwheel, instantly, silently. I found I shifted less, meaning my cadence was more varied. I remember when I bought this bike in 1995, I hated the DT shifters. Couldn't stand having my hands off the bars! Now, it's no big deal. I think years of riding with STIs or Ergos allowed me to be comfortable enough on the bike that taking a hand off and reaching down to shift was no problem

I didn't mount a head unit to the bike, leaving the bar completely clear of stuff. I haven't ridden that way in years! Just riding, all by feel and perceived exertion. It was a blast! Of course, I mounted cadence and speed sensors on the bike and wore a HR strap, but I tucked the head unit in my jersey pocket, so I only know how fast I went etc. after the fact. Still got 6 PRs on various segments that I've ridden between 20 and 150 times before, so clearly I wasn't dawdling.

While I was riding, I decided to stop treating the C'dale as if it were 1) a toy or 2) made of glass. I have a rule for my watch buying - I won't own any watch that I won't wear. No 'Vault Queens' for me, and that goes for the 150 year old key wind pocket watches as well. So I decided it's the same with bikes - if I'm going to own a bike, make it part of the stable, I have to be willing to RIDE IT. Turns out it was up to it! So now it's officially part of the stable! I decided to call it "Jackhammer", for reasons anyone who's ridden an early Cannondale can understand.

We've spent a decent amount of time above freezing in the last week or so. Still some snow/ice going east (buildings/trees shade the snow from the southerly sun), but the roads are pretty clear otherwise.
