Well, I'll be...
Through the miracle of modern, push-connect plumbing fittings... I'm already done.
Now I need to hide out in the basement for a couple more hours, occasionally swearing and thunking a wrench - my wife needs to understand how much this monumental task well and truly frustrated me, so that she can properly thank me later, amiright?

You've pretty much nailed what happens to be every time a "simple repair" needs to be done at my place. Grrrr......
Years ago, my wife told a friend that I didn't have very good handyman skills. I guess I took it as some kind of challenge, because I then proceeded to do a bunch of things in our condo that proved her wrong. The condo was easy. Things were new (ish), and put together fairly well, with modern materials. Our current house is apparently held together with various layers of glue, tape, and band-aids. I regret ever opening my mouth about my ability to use tools.

Welp, my Brooks saddle, to be tested, is in Merida. I assume it will be out here in a few days. While hobbling around the city this morning (before I got the email) I had thoughts of stretching not only the knee, but the whole shootin' match including the hip. I guess I'll start that protocol this afternoon. Any other thoughts?

Yay. Survived the first shot, scheduled for the second dose on Apr 16. A bit beyond the recommended two week interval, but beggars can’t be choosers, eh?
Woke up with a killer headache this morning and didn’t take any Tylenol, before or after the shot with fears of adverse effects, may take a nap instead. I was certain it’s a dehydration related headache, but still raging on.

After my ride yesterday, I spent about an hour and a half, making the Circuit gleam. I started by using a clay bar, and followed that with Meguiar's Scratch-X. It's amazing stuff! A lot of the paint was kinda matte, especially around the BB. This stuff polished that right up! Then I touched up the paint with some Testors Dark Red, which dried a little darker than I hoped, but at a distance it's not visible. There were also weird chips in the "Schwinn" decal on one side. Schwinn went non-traditional in labeling this model, and probably the other lightweights around this time. There's nothing on the downtube, but it says SCHWINN down both sides of the seat tube, and CIRCUIT on the top tube. The Schwinn is in silver, and there were chips there that didn't go down to the metal, just to the red paint. So I used silver Testors to fill that in. I could have wished for a finer brush!
Once that dried, and Mrs. GeneJockey and I watched the last two episodes of "Sneaky Pete" together, I greased up the seatpost and seat tube, inserted the former into the latter, clamped it down, and went to work.

WhyFi , I know you don’t have much use for templated router work, but give this a look. I have been cleaning/reorganizing the tools chest and I thought it might be something you’d like when I was putting this away.

I have basic handyman skills. Can replace a faucet and do drywall etc, but finish carpentry is something I'm just not good at and am fine with it. Honestly anything more than simple repairs I prefer to hire out, easier for me than hearing about it if my fix goes wrong.

The bike is all the way back together, shifting well and indexing properly. BUT, I haven't completed the installation of the stem/bars or the brake cables. I put the Cinelli Nerve handlebar together with a 130mm #T Synthesis stem I had, put the stem in at minimum insertion, attached the brake levers with tips aligned with the drops, and then measured carefully. I had 11.4cm of saddle-to-bar drop. That's a while inch more than my second-lowest bike. And then, despite being a smaller frame, the saddle-to-hoods reach was more than any other bike.
But it was 2 AM, so I went to bed, especially because the Greyhound was bugging me to go to bed.
Today, the 130mm Cinelli 1A stem arrived. It's got SLIGHTLY more maximum height and the bar sits SLIGHTLY higher in the stem than the Synthesis, and I decided to use the Soma Highway One bar, which has 13mm less reach and 18mm less drop than the Nerve. With the bars mounted in that stem and the brake levers mounted on the bar with flat ramps, the reach to the bar is a lot better, but also the handlebar drop is less. I'm closing in on it! Tomrrow I should get the Nitto Dynamic stem I ordered, and I'll see if that can get me even closer.

Short runs aren't complicated, I've put in plenty of new outlets, including 240v outlets for appliances and power tools, but that's about as far as I'll go. Even then, I'm always a little nervous opening the panel or when I flip on the new circuit for the first time. Haven't burned the house down yet, though.

i made all my master templates by printing a 1:1 of the particular guitar I wanted to build, spray glue it on MDF, and then using this to route the template. Of course, two years after that, I had everything drawn in cad and fed that to a laser cutter (acrylic) to have even more templates. Some may say I have a problem!

Short runs aren't complicated, I've put in plenty of new outlets, including 240v outlets for appliances and power tools, but that's about as far as I'll go. Even then, I'm always a little nervous opening the panel or when I flip on the new circuit for the first time. Haven't burned the house down yet, though.

Of course, two years after that, I had everything drawn in cad and fed that to a laser cutter (acrylic) to have even more templates. Some may say I have a problem!
