First test of alternative saddle for the Battaglin - white San Marco Regal. Big thumbs down. COULD NOT get comfortable. Seemed to accentuate the harshness of the ride, plus lack of a relief channel* kept me from rolling my hips forward, so I hunched over.
On to the next. Now, what to do with the Regal...

Some of it is so smooth you could ride a gravel bike or even a road bike with the right tires. Other parts are sketchy even on my enduro bike with 2.8 tire. I couldn't find a picture of the loose rocks near the bottom but they are a challenge. There are lots of rocks that don't move, too, making pedal strikes a concern.
Kind of the same around here but not as bad - it's a lot like this. It can be really smooth dirt but then at other times it will be just littered with baby heads and other smaller rocks.
*not my pictures*

A friend broke his frame and it took a long time to sort out if they were going to warranty it, or he would have to buy a new bike so I offered to let him use my CAAD5 on the condition that he NOT race it and just use it to keep in shape. Montrose ride was approved. He had it for 5 months, raced it and crashed in a race, scratching it up and putting a deep gouge in the fork. He also swapped parts around and when I got it back it wasn't rideable because the drivetrain was mis-matched.
I offered to sell it to him cheap, I would have taken $200, but he wouldn't buy it. We weren't close friends and after that we weren't friends.

Since now I'm running full tubeless and dropped the pressures a bit, riding has gotten a bit easier. Although one of the last times I was cleaning things up I found a pretty decent dent in the rear wheel, so I guess I still have some work to do figuring out the appropriate pressure

Or maybe I'm just not a good MTB rider

Be careful out there on the internet today, folks.
It's always such a silly place around this time of year...

(Sigh) yeah, me too. 3" last night. I went to Lowes around 8pm for more paint...naturally. There was nothing @ that time. I finished painting the Foyer and while putting tools away I noticed I was looking at snow, around 11:45pm or so.
Was a complete and total shock. I heard nothing about snow on weather reports/news etc. I should have taken a picture.
