The next Lightweight?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The next Lightweight?

Saw that these are now available as an option through Speedvagen. Interesting story, only available as disc wheels is seems and pricey for now!

Based on that article, Im not sure why the wheels are incredible as a design. They are carbon fiber wheels that also use some metal and plastic...i guess thats innovative?
Im certainly not doubting they are innovative since its not like I could do better, but that really didnt make me want to look into them more, much less potentially buy the wheels.

Looks pretty unique and innovative
the spokes wrap around the hub and the carbon rim design looks really different, but just not a lot of details

Only $6900 for a set of PARTINGTON 39R/44R WHEELSET

(You gotta put the product name in all caps, or they'll be NOTHING like LIGHTWEIGHTs)

The spokes look interesting. I wonder how they deal with the torque from braking and pedaling. Just friction?

That's AUD. Direct conversion to USD is a much more affordable $5250 (though retail pricing for other regions often differs from the conversion).

Cyclingtips covered this a while ago. Idk. I can't really claim to have a strong opinion on $5200 wheels. On a technical level, they seem fine (if you believe carbon spokes won't explode, as lightweight has proven). If people really want them, good for them. As cyclists, we have no right to criticize people's spending habits.

Certainly passes the old $1/gram formula for marginal gains
Interest in still pretty lightweight carbon spoked wheels, one could opt for pair of relatively cheap Hunts:
