I canceled the order.

I ended up not liking the TT / track bike look for a bike that is never going to be used in the track nor for TT. I'll just keep using the 420mm wide dropbar until I can find an affordable 380mm bar.

More of a context thing to showcase what 50 grams actually is on a bike... it's not much.

Just a reminder: The only reason I mentioned Ronan McLaughlin's everesting bike in this thread is because his cut-off-the-drops bar is what the OP was trying to achieve by buying a bullhorn and flipping it over (which I don't think would work the same).

McLaughlin admits that it was silly to cut the bars to save 50 grams, but notes that he wasn't going to use the drops anyways so it was free speed.

Also worth noting that McLaughlin's time was bested by Sean Gardner in October, where he rode a stock Cannondale SuperSix Evo with disc brakes.

“I just pretty much rode my stock road bike and it would have been great to have some lighter wheels, or frame and then adapt it with fewer cogs as well. I think my bike weighs around 17lbs, so getting it a couple of pounds lighter would have been nice.”

I only considered bullhorn as cheap $10 alternative option for narrow 380mm handlebar upgrade, not for weight reduction. I have 38 lbs road bike and 50 grams less weight will not a make a difference at all!

I measured the bend at the tip of the bullhorn and the tilt of the brakes hoods I use and saw it would still result to an acceptable angle, within the angle range I've used before without causing any discomfort.

The reason I stopped using the drops on the 420mm dropbar is due to the inward angle brake hood tweak which brought my arms closer like having a 380mm wide handlebar and found it quite comfortable. Having my arms closer together meant using the brake hoods entirely so I acquired the habit of never using the drops.

Perhaps I'll be able to use the drops again when I finally have 380mm wide dropbar. Still waiting for the $12 380mm dropbar to re-stock though.

I've also decided to ditch the bullhorn mod after realizing I don't like how it looks on a road bike. I'll be dropbar all the way!:thumb:
