Interesting entry into the market, seems like $10-12k for a halo-level custom bike is (extremely relatively) good value, especially with the brand reputation of Enve behind it.

I'd buy that before even giving a second's thought to buying a comparably priced Specialized or Trek or some other $12,000 bike with little to no customization.

Whoah. 47-63cm, in 1cm increments, with four head tube sizes for each, and 5mm increments for stem length and bar width. Nice.

I love everything about this bike except the bars. They're modeled after the AR bars. Those range from 38cm to 46cm at the hoods, in 2cm increments. 43cm to 51cm at the drops. Bad news for smaller riders or anyone hoping to race crits. Most riders can probably deal with the smallest bars but a lot of people will be on less than ideal setups.

"Custom" in the Enve case sounds like a wide variety of standard size frames with the ability to fine-tune the integrated cockpit and pick a paint-job, so perhaps the best comparison is to something like Trek Project 1.
Also, you probably won't have to toss out the stock wheelset.

It's beautiful. I wonder how it rides. Bet the aerodynamics are fantastic.
If I was going to spend $12k on a bike it would be this. Or another Cervelo. Or three top of the line MTBs.

I'd get a new road bike, a gravel bike, and a new mtb. Could do all 3 for $12k. Wouldn't be BF worthy dream bikes, though.

I've seen plenty of SWorks or other extremely expensive bikes in crits. Maybe it's just a CA thing?
Are you saying that this particular bike is not suited for crits? I guess that's fair. But narrow bars are a good idea even outside of crits. If you're going to get an aero helmet, aero wheels, an aero bike, race tires etc. you may as well optimize the bars.

Again. I don't see how that's specific to this bike. Those other $12,000 bikes are... designed for racing. Is it really so odd that some people actually use them for that purpose?

It's not specific to this bike. I know there are working people who use their $12k bikes to race crits. I never said it was odd, I just said it was expensive and certainly unnecessary.

I notice the seat post goes over the down tube instead of the normal other way around. Not sure what the advantages of this method are, but if something breaks there seems like you're more likely to need to replace the frame than just the seat post... 🤔

I know lots of people who have bought a full price, $10-$12 S-Works Tarmac/Stumpjumper/Diverge/Crux/whatever. I don't understand spending that kind of money of a stock, not fully custom bike, but that's just me. I think there's room for the Enve bike in the market.
