So I bought my first Sugoi shorts 18 months ago or so. I LOVED the way they fit and felt and less chafing. I was impressed so a week or two later I ordered a pair of their bibs. After just a few rides I noticed that some of the seams were coming undone on my shorts. A ride or two later I noticed the same thing on my bib shorts. This was after probably 5 to 6 rides each. One of the seams kept getting a bit worse on the bibs and so I emailed Sugoi.
To my surprise they said they'd send me another pair of each and I'd send back my defective pair. Good service! I received the pair of bibs but not the pair of shorts, but I felt the gesture was nice enough I didn't say anything and I asked where they wanted me to send my defective pair of bibs. They said don't worry about it just to use them till they wear out.
Needless to say a really good customer service experience.

However, their replacement pair is starting to do the same thing and one pair of shorts is almost completely split at this point. These are my NEWEST cycling shorts and have less wears than my other brands and while they're comfortable, wearing them out so quickly is not good or acceptable at the price point.

So I need to get another pair of shorts/bibs, I'm leaning towards trying some ASSOS? Any thoughts? Any recommendations?

I used a Strava coupon last year to buy a pair of Le Col bibs. I loved them so much I used a second coupon to buy a second pair. I've worn them on two centuries, gravel rides, etc. They are my go to for longer rides. One pair is about 6 months old with at least 1-2 rides a week, and the other is 3 months old or so with similar usage. Both are still in excellent shape and are in heavy rotation. With the coupon, they were about 120.

I will say I got a pair of the second level black bibs that I originally hated on any ride over 20 miles. They are starting to get more comfortable - fine for 40-50 mile rides.

I have a number of Assos bib shorts and jerseys. All are comfortable, have held up and fit well. I am willing to spend a few extra dollars for this quality. With that said, my most recent bib short purchase was a pair of Pearl Izumi Pro bib shorts, which are extremely comfortable and the shoulder straps do not even feel like they are there. Can’t comment on their durability but, so far, I am very pleased with them.

My Assos bibs have hundreds of rides and washes on each pair. Still holding up very well. I expect to get another couple years out of them. That would make 5 years on 4 pairs.

I have been using Assos for about 6 years. I went to them because I saw an awesome sale and just wanted to try them. I've never gone back. They fit me well and I've had no problems with quality. Sizing can be tough because most of their stuff fits like body paint. Then again I don't have a cyclist body with a 43" chest and weighing 185 lbs. But, it all works for me.

Buy Assos and cry once. They just are designed and engineered and manufactured better than most others, in my experience. Some of the Rapha stuff is good but I find their one year only warranty limitation to be stupid for such expensive products. Not their tights or shorts but I have had a number of zippers fail and cloves tear out that were just over one year and they told me, sorry. I complained and maybe got a 40percent voucher. BS. Pearl have also been excellent for sticking to their life time warranty, no haggling. that's all that I can offer.
