Kool Stop dual compound pads
Don't know if is the adjustments I made to the reach of my rim brakes, but I switched from Kool Stop Salmons (great for wet) to the KoolStop half Salmon half black (sort of all all weather pad) wow - Much better feel and performance on the downhill ride I just had.
Either way, Kool Stops are fantastic

I always wondered about the dual compound stuff. Doesn't the harder portion compound, change or reduce how much the softer compound portion contributes and/or wouldn't they have different wear rates? just a random curiosity

Had dual compound pads that came with the kool stop pad holders when I bought them some years ago. When I replaced wheels I had some screeching and oscillation, due I believe to rims not being consistent width, despite being true. I got some Kool Stop red pads and the softer compound eliminated the problem. They brake better too, though they are said to wear faster. Not sure which are better wet: I ride disc brake bike when weather is iffy.
