Which Single-sided Power meter?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'll counter the rm -rf story with my own positive one from 4iiii.

First up, the 4iiii left sided crank most certainly does report battery warnings to the heads unit. Whenever the battery hits 10% I get a notification on my Edge 520. In fact the notification might even be 15% battery life. I can't remember.

I can't comment on the power spike issue vs the Stages PM because I've never used a Stages PM. I will say I have never had any power spike issues and I've been riding with the left sided 4iiii PM for two years now. Then again I don't obsess over very little detail of my PM either.

Regarding customer support, I have had nothing but positive experiences. I called 4iiii shortly after I received my PM because I was concerned with the power/batter consumption. I was expecting almost 3,000km from one CR2032 battery and I think I only had 2,000km before the battery died. So I called tech support. They were most helpful, chatting with me about the PM, and explaining to me it was likely the battery that shipped with the PM that was low on power. Sure enough, when I replaced the battery with a new one I managed to get 3,000km or so of distance off one battery.

A second positive experience with 4iiii customer service occurred with Mrs. NoWhammies and the dual sided PM on her new bike. The right sided crank wasn't recognizing on her Edge 530. Long story short, it was user error on my part for the way I set up the PM with her Edge unit. Problem solved in less than 24hrs.

Can't recommend 4iiii or their customer service enough.

My 4iiiis also reports low battery warning. And it lasted for maybe ten more rides after the first warning.

Thanks. That echoes what I've read about 4iiii elsewhere.

Same here. The low battery warning comes on way in advance of the battery actually dying completely. I use the 4iiii app on my phone to get an accurate battery percentage and usually swap the battery around the 2-3% range.

Ah, you are right! I was thinking it was 5-sec for some reason, but I see it is 3-sec on my Garmin. I use a widget for power which displays the 3s average as a sliding bar which changes colour with my power zones. I do also have 30-sec power displayed, but don't use it much.
