Thinking about stepping up to a road bike from my Trek 520. I was looking at a Trek Émonda SL 7 Disc eTap, but don't wan't to wait until next May to get it!

Can anyone recommended any comparable bikes that I should be looking at?

Hi, welcome to the neighborhood. These days there seems to be a pretty big gap between "what I want" and "what I can find"... not news: sweet-spot solutions are backordered until 2063. And, as you read around this place, you'll see that estimated arrival times are usually just wishful thinking. So, 'couple ideas for ya. 1) Figure out all the bike shops within 30 miles and take yourself on tour. Meet folks, see what they have, see what they say, see what they forecast, see what you can test ride. You'll learn a lot. 2) Start lurking the used market. Look thru eBay frequently, maybe filtering on your size and above a minimum price (don't look at $200 bikes, just don't). You will find other bikes that make you say "I'd like to know more about that model" and off to the web you go to learn more (including this place where you can post something like "Emonda riders - would you buy one again?"). 3) Keep in mind that the major manufacturers are really competitive, and the differences between similar-purpose bikes is usually quite small. For instance, I lean toward an "endurance road bike" style. Spesh has 'em, Trek has 'em, Giant has 'em, Fuji has 'em, Canyon has 'em, BMC has 'em, Cervelo has 'em... and if they were identically set up, I'd probably have a hard time blindfolded telling you which was which. 4) Try to remind yourself that the hunt is fun and enjoy it. Yeah, hard to find the right thing right now, but solutions are out there that balance your budget, your preferences and your timing.

Trek has a useful bike finder tool on their website. My recommendation if you really like the Emonda is to find one near where you live in the right size (and maybe color) and drive and buy it. We had to do that with the Domane+ ALR we got my wife last month.

Specialized Tarmac and Aethos might be alternatives as well, if you can't find an Emonda.

I just ordered a Emonda Sl6 Pro(red) had to pay in full & was told itll be in after the new year, dont know how long it takes to make a bike for them,feel uneasy payin in full $4300 & have the shop go under, no dealers in the Us have bikes in stock when they showed me all the countries orders at the store, few models might show up sooner

wowza...PIF********** My LBS only requires 20% at order and remaining when it came in. Full payment seems excessive, and you have to wonder about the shops longevity.

That is crazy! No way would I have agreed to that deal. I would have said call me in the fall (if you are still in business!) when you have a better idea when these bikes are actually going to be available. But hope it works out well.
