Update for Garmins

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yeah, a few days ago I came into the house from a ride with the bike. After the ride was saved and I was removing my Edge 530 from the bars the notification that an update was available came up. I went ahead and let it update, then when it rebooted itself, it locked up solid when it was finding the sensors.

I left it like that for about five minutes thinking it might clear itself, but it didn't. So I held the power button for 12 or so seconds until it began a restart. Everything was normal and working properly after that.

They were supposed to have added some of the improved navigation functions that the 1030 Plus got, including better options to pick up a course when not on it, pausing a navigation, etc..... unfortunately these did not make it to the 1030.

Too bad, they were functions that were needed and essentially continues Garmin's attitude of if you want some needed improvements you get to buy a new unit at $500 or more. Is why I abandoned and went to Hammerhead

Mine updated after my last right. No real differences unless you're big into using the navigation features.

My 1030 updated, they only major change I noticed was arrows pointing the direction of the course which is very helpful and ling over due. But the biggest change was that the training affect and load numbers align much more closely with my fenix 6, which is great!

Yep, I noticed the course direction arrows too, which are quite good. But it also messed up some of the climb segments on my local loop course. Most of the climbs disappeared and a couple of new ones were added. So not sure what is going on there.

Add a feature, create N bugs (N ≥ 1).
Fix a bug, create M bugs (M ≥ 1).

Garmin sucks at software development and testing, but to be fair, "find the climbs on this course" is a mushy problem.

I was unaware of the update but did notice that my 530 kept getting "lost" on a ride on Saturday.

Also, it seems to have stopped recognizing my heart rate monitor. Anyone else experience that?

I thought I did but it turned out the sensors just needed cleaning. Other than that, it works fine after the update

Anyone hear if this will trickle down to the 1000? Still in great shape, no need to replace. 6+ years old.

Outside of the port for the barometric sensor, what other sensors did you clean that made this work ?
