Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I passed it just seconds after it happened (before the police arrived and ambulance). There appeared to be one guy laying flat with half his face bloodied - I did not see anyone else given the crowd that was forming. We kept riding to avoid creating any additional bottleneck at the base (enough people were already gathering and gawking which creates more potential for another accident).

From the descent I took at 45+ MPH, I was passed several times by riders. They were either (1) more skilled descenders than I or (2) risk takers who forgot that the the Triple is NOT for Cat 4,3,2,etc... riders only and were going too fast for the crowd they were attempting to pass.

My bet is on the later - sorry for being blunt, but that's how I see it.
