Wide Road shoes

Hi everyone,
I seem to have a problem finding wide road shoes. I buy running shoes that go up to 4E and i've seen the widest SiDi that go up to 3E, i think they're the SiDi Genius for about $230. Also, one of the guys at the bike shop told me to look into Rocket 7 shoes, i did, and i'm not going to play $560 for some road shoes!!!

What are my options? Am i doomed to never be able to enjoy the benefits of wearing some cool road shoes?

Thanks.

You know that someone posts about wide road shoes every single day?

I'm sure a forum search would get your answer.

This needed to be said.

I'll add that my feet are 3e to 4e, and my Sidi Megas have plenty of width for a 4e foot. I'd suggest you try a pair.

If you haven't yet, try on some Carnacs. My feet are too wide for most cycling shoes but my Carnacs are plenty wide. I've never tried Sidi Megas so I can't comment there.

Oh cool i'll check those shoes ASAP, thank you.

Quick question, what Carnacs shoes do you have that fit you pretty good???

I wear size 15EEEE and the Sidi Megas in size 50 fit me perfectly.

Good riding,

Carnac and Northwave both fit my 4E feet well. The SIDI Megas were not wide enough.

My LBS ordered the shoes and charged me less than I could get them for via mail-order.

Carnac Cometes. I have not tried any other version though and I don't believe this version is available any more.

I have found Shimano shoes to be very wide in the toe box, certainly wider than Gaerne or Sidi (not the mega though).

Thanks for starting the thread. I wear Sidi Mega and they are very tight despite the fact that they are slightly long for my foot. I can barely get the main strap engaged in the ratchet. I only go one click. If there is something wider, I want it too.

I'll also suggest trying on the megas, I usually wear an 11 1/2 EE and a the width of a regular 46 sidi almost worked :(, the shoe was a little too short for my left foot but the width seemed about right.

Anyone have any idea if Carnac are just wide in general or if i should be looking for a certain model that's wide????

Shimano USED to make fairly wide shoes, but 2005 they decided to redesign their shoe's. Grab any 2004 model'sthat you can find and fit, like the R150, or R214, even the R212(i think), an easy way i've found to identify the old (wide) models is the presence of the SPD-R slot, if it doesn't have it, then it's a new (narrow) model.
