so... I got this thing... I like to alert other riders, when I'm on the MUP, that I'm gonna pass them... there are times when I dont seem to stop sayin "On Your Left"...
so I'd like to try a Ding/Ding bell, see how that works.
Problem is I'm enough old school to not have much room on my cockpit. My 18 yr old HR monitor (I know it and it knows me...) and my Cateye astrale seem to take over a lot of space on the bar ( round 31.8) on my Tarmac.
Can Anyone recommend a Bell which I might be able to fit somewhere/anywhere on bar or stem, or whatever ? Most of the bells I've noticed are set to fit a thin bar...
Not that I've noticed that many... Just that when I hear someone using one, it reminds me I need to try one... LOL!

Try a Timber mountain bike bell. It rings continuously when "turned on," and can be muted by flipping a lever. Ringing depends on the terrain and angle of the bell. Sounds like a miniature ice cream truck.

Once the mute lever is released you don't need to manually ring it, so it doesn't need to be mounted where you can easily reach it.

I don't often use the MUP, but find pedestrians respond better to the Timber bell. They can usually hear it at a distance so they're already moving over as I approach. And they seem less annoyed than with other bells.

But nothing works with cars or people wearing earbuds.

When I forget to move the bell to whichever bike I'm riding I just slow down to a walking pace as I approach pedestrians, say "Bicycle behind you," wait for them to decide which way to move, and pass on the available side. Seems to work better than hollering "onyerleft!"

I use a Knog Oi (classic). The large fits 31.8 bars easily.

The purpose of a bell is to create awareness of your presence.

You can't mount a bell on that bike because the invariable assplosion of crabon will destroy not only your frame but shatter any bell into a million pieces that in concert will cause the 1812 Overture to ring out for all those around you will immediately know you were riding the world's most fragile material. With your mangled body lying on the ground beside the remains of what used to be a bicycle, bystanders will point and laugh at your folly of choosing plastic over metal. Your loose front wheel, unburdened from the weak shackles of what once was your fork, will slowly roll across the MUP until it sheds all its momentum, wobbles a bit, then finally falls to the ground. Every dog going by will make their mark on it. Years later, the spot of the wheel's final resting place will be commemorated by the empty patch where no grass grows.

I use the Mirrycle Incredibell Adjustabell 2 (about $9 on Amazon) on a couple of my bikes. It has an adjustable strap you can trim to length. It sounds a single chime that's loud enough to get attention from a pretty good distance.

There is nothing wrong with mounting a small dinger-bell to the seat post.

The best luck may be found with a model that lets you rotate the hammer to whatever position is convenient. I find the hammer sometimes brushes the back of my thigh if not turned right. Your particular arrangement may be different.

I use the old fashioned bike in which you push or pull a little lever and you get a long Riiiiiiiiin-Riiiiiing. Trouble was, they don't sell them with mounts that will fit anything but a skinny handlebar. My Trek Domane has a fat handlebar, but I managed to mount the bell using two zip tires. The bell is plenty loud and easy to operate. Pedestrians often smile and wave when they hear it. I like it much better than the bells that give off a single ping, which is often not loud enough. My bell cost around $8 at the local bike shop.

I’ve got an Incredi-bell on my Domane, too. I fastened it as tightly up under the right hood as possible. I can easily ring it with my thumb when I’m on the hoods, which is like 90% of the time for me, and it doesn’t get in the way of the brake or shift levers when I’m in the drops.

Actually, I'm loathe to fit lights or even a bottle cage to my bike, so since I have a loud freehub and a voice, no bell.

Mirrycle Incredibell Adjustabell mentioned above works well and fits all bar sizes. I mount bells so I can keep both hands on the bars/brakes and ring them. Seems most times I need them, I'm on the brakes slowing because someone is unaware of me.

I use a couple of Incredibells that fit up to 26.0 or so, but sadly my Adjustabell failed. The small plastic tab that needs to catch the strap eventually stopped staying in a position to keep the strap tight. So I have one bell down on a 22.2 quill stem adapter and on the other bike it’s on the top tube, which is 25.4.

My stems are 31.8 so I’ve been looking for other options. I don’t own either but the bells from Arundel and Spun Cycle are in one of our local shops. They seem of good quality, especially the Spun Cycle bell, and at least some of their bells fit 31.8.
