Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cube Agree C:62 SL vs Merida Scultura Rival (or others)

Hi all,

I'm in the market for a new bike (yep, not the best time), with my budget being +- €4500. I ride about +- 5000km a year, training for granfondos like the Marmotte Alpes.

I'm currently leaning towards a Cube Agree C:62 SL or a Merida Scultura Rival.

Both have wireless shifting, have integrated wireing, are racey endurance bikes, and are within my budget.
Which one would you suggest and why?
Are there other options I should consider?

Thanks!

I'm in a similar position and both look good to me. I mean there are dozens of very similar endurance road bikes that would fit the same bill. I think you are down to personal preference here.
Other obvious options:-

Giant Defy Advanced Pro
Canyon Endurace
Cannondale Synapse
Trek Domane
etc, etc.

Both the bikes you mentioned look great to me, if a little generic. But can't argue with the value here. Giant and Canyon offer similar value for money propositions, but I wouldn't have any obvious preference.
FWIW the Scultura comes with a better cassette for the Marmotte (10-36), but that's an easy swap if you need to on the Cube. They both have the same chainset.

Edit: I notice the Agree SL is a lot more expensive than the Scultura Rival. Higher level groupset and carbon wheels etc. So not like-for-like within their respective model ranges.
