Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

New Silver Crankset 2x10 165mm

I’m looking for a new crankset for 2x10 that has a length of 165 and is silver. Other than maybe finding a new old stock crankset, Stronglight Impact is the only option I have found. Any other options out there? How good is stronglight? Looking at affordable options.

Peter White Cycles lists a Sugino XD in 165mm at an "affordable" price, but that page hasn't been updated in a long time.

He also has TA crank sets, and you can get whatever you want, but it is a more costly option. If I ever need a new crankset, this is where I will go.

Good luck!

FWIW, I think the Stronglight Impact is a rebadged Sugino XD. At some point (1980s?) Stronglight stopped forging cranks and began to contract it out. I like Sugino cranks, FWIW.

Velo-Orange has two models of their double cranksets in 165mm in stock: https://velo-orange.com/collections/...rankset-34x48t

There are others that I can think of that are more expensive, or completely out of stock, so they probably don't warrant a mention here. Is there a price point you're trying to hit?

On edit: the black finish on cheaper cranks no doubt helps keep their cost down. If you have more time than money, you could try buying one, sanding off the paint or removing anodizing, then polishing it back up to look like it was silver all along.

I think like $150 is the most I would want to spend. Do you know if anyone sells Stronglight in the US?
