It's a back pack! It's designed to distribute the weight in a comfortable manner.
If weight is a problem for you, stick with a bottle and stop often to fill it.

2L is a good size. Enough to go a good distance between fill ups but not very heavy. There are also 1L and 1.5L, but if I'm carrying that small an amount, I'll stick with a bottle.

You, sir, are being played for a fool.

I was hesitant on getting a reservoir/backpack because I’ve heard all the hoopla about them being uncomfortable and hot.

Well.

I guess it’s true about what they say about opinions. I bought a Camelbak MULE the other day and on my first ride out I was surprise how comfortable it was. With 3 liters of fluid I would think it would be a little cumbersome, but it wasn’t. And hot? No, the mixture of Gatorade and ice-cubes kept my back cool for two hours. The bonus part is that I’ve tossed all the extra stuff hanging off my bike like my pump and seat bag and put it in the Camelbak. Now my bike has that “clean” look.

I’d highly recommend one.

Thank you all for your opinions. I will be getting one soon!

Just curious... which one are you leaning toward? Enquiring mind's want to know...

Camelbak MULE seems like a good buy. Comfort is my thing.

Awesome! Medpilot is one persuasive fellow. Eight minutes from his post to your made-up-mind. Think I'll put him on retainer... :D
