I did the same distance today as Lance did in the TT
Took him 1:12
Took me 1:59. But he didn't have to stop all those times for traffic! ;) |
Unfortunately, it's pushing yourself that last 10% to match his speed that'll do you in...

so u rode 30 miles, was it in france on the same track?same size hills? did you ride 2800 miles in the last 3 weeks? ya, didnt think so
|
^ sad but true.
|
I was close to you. Even Rasmussen smoked us. My dreams of winning the TdF at age 49 are shattered. :(
|
Hmm, I've done 33 so far today, but it took about 2.5 hours. Whatever. I'm going to get more later...
Last time I checked, I was in 14th on the activebody.org TDF challenge. Not much over 23% of what the TDF riders do, but I'm a drunk riding around on a track bike... |
Mine was 40 miles today in 2.5 hours. Still no Rasmussen.
Calorie counter says that's 2900 calories for me. ...I'm hungry. |

Also, I don't like accidents or naked people running with flags. |

I'd like some clear roads too. Getting hit by a van sucks. Trust me on that one, walked away without broken bones, plenty of road rash though. Nice time, we can't all be absolute machines like the pros.

Keeping in mind that most of our members are 50+, we aim for at least 10% of the daily mileage of the tour and at least 25% of the speed. Therefore we are doing the "fluff" mileage while the riders in TdF are doing the hard work. :D Since many of our members are still working (not retired yet) and have differing schedules, we usually don't ride together, so no peloton. :( The real goal is to ride every day that the TdF riders are on the road. Gives one an appreciation for the dedication to the sport. chalkdusty |
Very similar here... Except I pulled slightly ahead of Hip at the second chek point at 44 KMS @ 1:33, but then home showed up between there and the finish and the allure of food was too much ;)... twas hilly.. But since Hip finshed the course he gets the stage win ...
And oh did I read somebidy mess wit da OCP... |

Good work. Saturday morning I did 26 in 1:49 but that was in the dark with a headlight! You see, hip, it's a really fine line that separates us from the elite. :D
|
I'm still tring to finish.:(
|
funny. i did the same thing saturday morning. when i got back i watched the rest of the itt and then compared times. by my calculation, just about any guy who did the itt that day - including rasmussen - could have met me at my house, given me an hour's head start, then read the newspaper, had some coffee, smoked a cigarette, and then STILL beat me back by a comfortable margin....

Those TDF guys only did a TT yesterday? What wussies. I, in the other hand, mashed-out 40 miles over grueling Massachusetts terrain on a bike that's only partially carbon and equipped w/ a lowly Ultegra gruppo --- I'm the man! |
