Dilemma - which bike should I keep
Hi, So I have been building up a new bike to replace this one that was cracked
Is this crack terminal ??
I got an ugly used frame with carbon fork, painted it matt black to my taste and have just about finished building it up with parts I had from the old bike (incl. 105 groupset)

Then yesterday I was found this in a pile of trash that someone was chucking out
The frame is better and lighter and it has newer 10 speed 105 groupset (the black bike is older 9 speed). Needs a new chain and a good clean.
But it is garish and bog ugly - I much prefer the minimalist black look and have some emotional attachment to the black one

I don't have room for both and can't decide. Please help - what should I do?
1. Keep black and just sell red
2. Keep red and sell black (would swap wheels)
3. Swap groupset and sell red with old 9 speed. (If I can be bothered doing this)
Thanks

2. As someone old enough to remember a China where everyone rode a black Flying Pigeon before it opened up its economy, I am glad that now bikes are available in other colors. Better for visibility too.

I like black bikes even if they are out of vogue. Not much concerned with what's currently fashionable. I also like my bikes with sweat equity invested. Long story short, I'd keep the black one.

At least give flat black frame a shiny clear coat. It looks like you applied a primer and couldn't be bothered to finish it. Like a cinderblock house where the owner ran out of money before they put on a facade.

Uh, someone threw out a perfectly good Argon 18 frame?
How carefully have you examined it?

Around here (suburban Melbourne) people throw out all sorts of valuable stuff because they couldn't be bothered selling it, especially when moving house. Half my house is furnished with stuff I picked up from the side of the road

In my mind that would be the sensible thing to do, however my dearly beloved does not see things the same as me. I have 4 bike hangers and 3 spots are already taken by my other bikes, so only room for 1 road bike (which is probably the least used of all of them)

I actually like the look, and it is what I was going for. You probably wont believe me but it looks a lot better in the flesh, the photo seems to accentuate the flaws. I do not regard myself as primarily a road cyclist. I like the sleeper look
