Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Honor System. I do suggest you only include road miles (not Zwift) but whether trainer miles “count” is off topic.

I will start: 7194 miles, which is a bit lower than last year but not too shabby.

I couldn't say how many of 2021 miles are IRL vs virtual. They all get dumped into srrava the same and I haven't bothered or really even thought to segment them.
I also don't select which bike I use after each ride. Thought about doing that a few times, but nah, not motivated enough.

For those who know their exact miles on the road- do you categorize them differently? Record them differently? What?

I only got 328 road, with another 277 on the trainer in the last month. Between being deployed the first six months of the year, then moving to the east coast from Guam over the summer, I did not get out anywhere near what I should have once I actually got my bike with me late in the summer. Need more cold weather gear to get some rides in this winter.

In 2021, I rode 3583.8 miles. 2900 & change less than the year before. Retiring from 1 factory laborer position with 10 months of 2020 to get bored with to going back to full time employment in early 2021, split between 2 different bike shops, 6 days per week has a way of sucking up your riding time.

Not that I would change anything, but at 6 days per week, I think I have enough "bike" for one person. I'd like to go back to riding recreationally, for fun. I think I'd like to pack some "self-directed" miles in & unload some "as directed" obligations for 2022.

8540 miles 18 miles 5 times a week are commuter miles most of the rest is on our tandem. I have been doing about 9000 a year but this year we had a crash that kept my wife from riding for 3 months and she has a shoulder issue that has kept on less miles and next month two months off the tandem. sucks she really misses not riding every day.

It seems obvious but I suggest you edit this post to also exclude motorbike rides. I already took a whiz in 50+ but why not another dribble?

A little over 3556 road miles this year, a good year for me but a little short of my 300 a month goal. I’m jealous of some of your mileage, good stuff guys
