Under saddle bag or Bottles

Which would you rather have? Your 'saddle bag' or http://www.performancebike.com/produ...50/20_1951.jpg some behind the seat bottles? I am trying to decide which I'll need more and in theory you could keep either the bottles or the gear from your bag in your jeresey pockets. This is mainly for longhot rides.

I think those bottle holders could be moved down on the post to allow room for both but I'm not sure,.

There are other options. Mounts that attach higher on the saddle rails... still others on the stem or handle bars.

i have both on my 1000. i have the same profile design cages on the bottom of the stem and the bag on the top. works great

I'd prefer to keep my seatbag on my seat with all the repair necessities, and two 830ml bottles on the frame... For long/hot, 1.66L might not be enough, but if you're riding through residential areas you can always sneak a refill off somebody's garden hose tap.

Neither... ;)

You can still put a seatbag on that.

Thats what I thought, wasn't sure, it is just a matter of mounting the bottles lower correct?

The reason I ask is that since school starts soon I'll be out during the hottest part of the day (330-4 till about 5) so I will need lots of water....I figured 4 bottles outta be over kill but two for the practice then one and a half for on way home.

Elvish,

That is the unit I have....but.....I have regular cages attached to it. A local rider said
she had problems with the unit you show, breaking the rubber bands that hold the cage
halves together. Yes, a small bag will fit under the seat if you have enough post sticking
out of the seat post.

If you have too much water you can always pour it on yourself if you don't drink it but
if you don't have enough you are SOL.

Elvish,

I may have typed too quickly. The unit I have is Profile Design, which has cages
like the ones you show or traditional bottle holders.

Yes, in fact just this morning I rode with a guy who had a seat bag + those exact same bottle cages. I know because I was looking at them for a while in a paceline :D

On hot days i'm usually running low on water with 2 bottles after 70-90km.

So would I be better going with that one or something cheaper Like these
