Pulling the Trigger on this Scott Cr1 20 Any Thoughts?

https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/989760618641638/ I'm supposed to meet up Friday to buy this bike. He's also throwing in an extra Ultegra (?) chain, cleats and a pair of Look Pedals for $830. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me and I've really wanted a carbon fiber bike for a while. The group is an Ultegra/105 combo. |
I'm a big fan of Scott road bikes - my first road bike was a Speedster S20 (wrecked in a crash) and I've since purchased two Addicts (the first was stolen, and I missed it so much I bought another). I don't recognize the wheelset on the pictured bike, you might want to confirm they're decent wheels. Price seems reasonable to me for a bike you want; I paid quite a bit more than that for my (used) Addict. Hope you'll enjoy it!

Good eye! They are Felt TTR4 wheelset. I'm not sure if that's an upgrade or not. I think they came stock in his tri bike. He said the bike wasn't crashed or anything like that. Other than the wheels he put cf handlebars in it. He is putting flats on for me but including the Look pedals.
I Dunno are the Felt wheels better than the stock one? The bike bluebook price is like $680 so that's $150 less than I'm paying but there are some upgrades and extras. Plus I'm tired of settling for cheaper bikes and would like something nice for once. |
I could get this one for $400 thoughhttps://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/483149460030364/
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...717e92be49.png Aluminum frame but carbon seat post and forks. 105 group. Weight is basically 1 pound. Argh can't decide Don't really like the white tires and seat. Not even a fan of the blue. Kind of a stupid reason to pay $430 more though |

Best thing of course would be to ride both the Scott and the Felt and see if you like one of them much better. |
All true. I remember somewhere reading that for most people, at a certain price point (and not a terribly high one) you should just pick the color you like and be done with it. Lol

Nice that the Scott has clearance for 28mm rubber
|
Good point. My cyclist-oholic co-worker tells me wider tires are all the rage. Esp since I'm not racing. I just want to keep up with the "fast" (14-16mph) group
|
Just make sure it's in good condition and that it was well maintained. Can't comment on the price as the used market varies from a place / region to another, but it doesn't seem unreasonable.
That's a nice DIY bike stand, by the way! You should ask the seller if you can leave with it :D |
