Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Monday was 74 and sunny with a light breeze. Today it is 46 cloudy with a chance of rain. If its a tad better tomorrow I may gear up and try for a good ride.

i think that Western North Carolina is pretty much perfect. We can ride up in the mountains in summertime and there are some flat-ish valleys where you don't work up too much of a sweat in wintertime.

socal has been in the low/mid 60's lately with the occasional 2-3 days spikes of mid-70's-low 80's weather the last two months.
got another one coming up on wednesday. funny/miraculous how, lately, it doesn't seem to arrive on either of the days off...

Yeah, lately in SoCal I have been riding in the upper 60s to mid 70s, so that I am actually cold when I start.

After complaining about the heat waves and swapping out all of the lighter Oakley lenses, of course the weather would cool off.

I live in western Tokyo. Cycling weather is generally quite good in that it allows cycling for the entire year.

The mountains strip much of the moisture out of the skies (with it falling as snow in places like Niigata) and therefore during the Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb, March period the weather is quite dry with cool temperatures -5C to 10C in the deeper parts winter (possibly cooler if riding at night ie. -8Cish). Snow can be an issue when cycling in the mountains, therefore best to check conditions first.

Jun, July, Aug, Sept can be quite moist hot and humid as it is the rainy season + typhoons but there are normally plenty of good days to head out for a ride, especially early in the morning to beat the humidity and heat.

EDIT: as of this post it is mid-April. Weather is mixed between brilliant blue dry days and light rain. Lately more rain. Still riding,
April/May and Oct. are transitional periods with a mix of weather, but at least not too hot.

Nagoya here, spring is creeping over us and the upshot is steadily rising humidity and heat, leading to a fifth, borderline monsoonal season - so-called "tsuyu" - at the end of spring, followed by a stinking hot summer which ends with hurricanes... Autumn is nice winter is dry

If i have the equipment I'll ride almost daily all year round of course...

82F here in the Algarve region of Portugal; Spring weather. Blue sky, strong Sun, plenty of tourists out on the beaches this morning. I did an MTB cruise of the coastal trails.

Up here in Québec, Canada, it was 10c (50f) yesterday. Sunny, but windy. Spring hasn't been as warm as usual this year so there is still some snow left up in the national park where we ride. This weekend, pathways were 100% accessible for the first time (thanks to all the rain we got recently!) so we enjoyed it as much as we could.

Looking forward to put on my short sleeve jerseys.

Louisville KY. Last couple weeks I’ve went from shorts a few days to full winter gear the next with temps going in the 30’s to 60’s. . Rain and wind too. This is not a great place to live for good riding weather.

Is this thread just for gloating?

Right now I'm in Tucson AZ where the temps have been in >70°F for several months now (and going up into the 90s this week), sunny, clear, it's only rained twice since Christmas. Jealous yet?

Of course, in ~2 weeks I head back to New York City, where it's currently 46°F and cloudy. FML.

31F snow-wet/windy & grey. Might warm up to 45F, all else unchanged for the next few days.

Riding in US, Maryland. It never knows what season it is until the week before the season is over!! Had some beautiful riding days during December and January, but then the cold, rain and wind. Very soon it will all be humid 100°f days wishing for cool wind and rain again!!
