Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Listen...I was a huge Sixer fan during the late 70s through the late 80s. I lived through what was probably the height of the Sixer-Celtic rivalry, including the season where the Sixers were up 3-1 on the Celtics in a playoff series and ended up blowing it. The following season they were up 3-1 again, and Boston forced a game 7 again. Fortunately, the Sixers won that one (and then went on to lose to the Lakers in the finals). No body hated Boston as much as I did. To make matters worse, I was in prep school in Massachusetts. So many Philly haters. Remember that the Eagles made and the Super Bowl during that time, and the Phillies made the World Series. Students were rooting against the Philly teams solely because they were Philly teams. They didn't give a damn about the Raiders and the K.C. Royals. They just wanted Philly to lose.

Those days are long gone. These days, I will route for a Celtics win if it would benefit the Sixers.

As a Left-coaster, I had my Celtic hater moments. In recent times that has faded, though.

I'm an equal opportunity ignorer. I don't care about any of them, although if I hear that the Warriors do well I have slight feeling of satisfaction.

We are having a lovely afternoon shower, in a month of generally no rain and very high temps. The wife suggested we get naked and go up on the roof. We might yet do it. No pics, of course.

Rode with the coach today, and the focus was sprints. Before each sprint we did 30 second intervals about 5 sets each. It would have gone really well, but I missed the start of the first sprint and the second sprint I sprinted at the wrong section……..

MadOne is with the mad scientist.

Tried a new Mexican cocktail tonight that I’m going to serve tomorrow night. It’s really good.

Muddle 5 Basil leaves and 4 lime wedges in a shaker
Add 2 ounces of Mezcal (I used a reposado)
Add 1.5 ounces of Blue Agave Nectar
Add 1.5 ounces of fresh squeezed lime juice

Add ice and shake.

Pour into a cocktail glass rimmed with bacon salt and over ice.
