How to determine which Madone 5.2 I Have

Hi community hope all is well. I'm new to this site and look forward to all the information that is here. My question today is in regards to the used Trek Madone 5.2 I recently purchased. I did some research myself and I think its a 2008 model based off the color scheme but I'm sure someone out there can confirm this for me or correct me on the year if I'm wrong. It's the Onyx Black carbon with white stripping which makes me think its a 2008. Also I was wondering if there is a way to tell which model Madone it is. SL, SLR etc. Is there specific components that can help identify which model it is? It has the OCLV black carbon frame. Shimano Ultrega All around. And the Bontrager Race X Lite wheels. I'm just trying to narrow down which year and model it is and any info is greatly appreciated. This info will help me determine its true value and im curious if I over paid or got a deal. Thank you again

Unfortunately I'm new to this site and can't upload pics yet.

If you take it to a Trek shop they can simply bar-code scan the serial number under the bottom bracket and give you all the info you would ever desire.

What randallr said above.

If you want to do a somewhat tedious search, Trek keeps an archive and you can compare the different years models for minor differences and when certain groupset versions were introduced. But if a previous owner upgraded or changed something, then you'll never be certain.

But you probably need to get to know your nearest authorized Trek dealer or service center.

Welcome to BF.

Thank you. I did look online for decoding the serial numbers but i guess after they stopped stamping the frames and using the scan system the numbers don't mean anything. Have to get it scanned. I might try to find a shop near me thank you

Not to be blunt, but it really doesn't matter at this point. You've already forked over the money. It'll be a good deal if you ride and enjoy it. It'll be a bad deal if it collects more dust than miles.

It's not important at all. Just was curious that's all as to what year and model it really is. Would be nice to know what I bought that's all. My apologies

A bike that old won't be 'scannable' but all the Trek dealer has to do is put serial number in their system and year/model will be found. Obviously it's the WTUXXXXXXXX on the bb.

Yea thank you. Not a huge deal. I love and enjoy the bike I was just curious that's all. I have the WTU# from the bar code and I've also read multiple threads on how to decipher that code but nobody seems to have a solid answer on the date codes. Thank you to all who've chimed in so far and helped. I appreciate it and glad to be apart of a nice active community like this.
