Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Update on numbness. Mojo31 and Bah Humbug were right, it was all my riding position/weight distribution.

Today the goal was to get over 20+ miles and 2 hours saddle time on a low intensity ride, trying to keep my heart rate down low where I could talk with no problem. Also to focus on using core to keep weight off hands.

It worked. Rode 25 miles in just under 2 hours. The numbness didn't set in much at all until the very end of the ride, when I my abs were feeling the workout and I must have been getting lazy abs and wasn't able to keep the weight off my hands as easily. Big difference in this ride. Felt some lower back pain at the end but I credit that to my weak core. Another 2-4 weeks of low intensity workouts should help me lose a few pounds and strengthen the core.
