Wheel Set Recommendations??

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

They make rim braked wheels!?

Unless Lightweight introduced a budget line recently that I'm unaware of, that "$1500" is a typo and should be $6500

Hard to typo between 1 and 6; those keys are nowhere near adjacent. Perhaps xseal meant Light Bicycle Wheels?

Agree, C40-C-R
Also if not able to find, consider C24-C-R
The C60 is more aero, heavier, more wind affected.
Still can find these on line, but are selling out

Not the German Lightweight, the Chinese Lightweight Bicycle. Great value.

Prowheelbuilder

I make my own wheels based on Jobst Brandt’s classic book. You can have prowheelbuilder make these for about 1/3 what your budget is
Here’s my recipe

rims-mavic open pro 28 or 32 hole (you can do 28 to save a bit of weight, 32 if you want more strength)
hubs - Bitex Rar/raf12
spokes - Sapim Race double butted
nipples - sapim polyax brass
lacing pattern - 3 cross (you can do a radial spoke pattern on the front to save a bit of weight and looks nice imho)
Rim tape: velox 19 mm

weight approx 1500 grams

these will be strong, light and durable as well as an excellent value.

actually built up a set today
