Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

giant ocr vs tcr

I really like the look and price of the giant carbon fiber frames. I'm an ex racer cat3 but that was about 8 years ago now I ride about 1-2 hours a day on my bad back. Will I notice a big difference between these to set-ups

I think an experienced rider will feel a big difference, but actual performance impact depends on your fitness level and riding style.

The OCR will have a shorter reach to the handlebars. The pieces of the carbon frame are also wider than they are tall, which supposedly absorbs more up and down vibrations in the frame. The TCR frame sections are all round. I dind't ride a TCR, but bought an OCR2 Comp, and I like the ride. I have a Lemond Zurich, and the OCR is stiffer in the rear.

I didn't ride the TCR because I knew that I wanted the more upright position of the OCR. The repair guy at the LBS did ride both and he said that the OCR was smoother.

I test rode both, about 30-40 min. each, purchased the TCR. I couldn't hang with the upright OCR geometry, but no argument it's a very nice bike.

I would say you'll definitely notice the geometry difference immediately, whether you like it or not is up to you.
