Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Excuse me, I think I'm in the wrong thread. I thought we were here to discuss the sound of Jimi Hendrix's guitar.

Don't mean to sound whiny too, just new to road bikes and hate to ask a question sometimes because people get a little too know it all. Not a bro btw.

I understand your plight... and while it's annoying, complaining about it doesn't exactly fix the aforementioned problem. To me, it's just a minor nuisance that I've trained myself to overlook from my years of posting on various forums. I generally try to resist the urge to say "Use the search feature you idiot n00b!" and try to help the person out. The way I see it, it doesn't take much (if any) more time to type out a helpful response than to just tell him/her to use the search feature and toss in a snipe about being a noob.

Do I say "search the forums you stupid, ignorent, annoying, brat, poster"... of course not, that would be mean. I give them a consice answer then point them to my faq on the subject...

Works the other way round too, i.e. someone asks a question, they get an in-depth reply and totally ignore the post? I seldom bother anymore.

I think you'll find that the people who complain are the people whose names seem to appear in just about every thread. I would assume that when you spend 90% of your waking hours leaving unwanted replies to forum questions you tend to get a little cranky. Just ignore them. Someone useful will eventually answer.

If you post a question raised before, you get complained that you didn't search.

If you do search and reply to that thread you get complained that you dug out an old thread.

You can't win either way. Some people just have to keep complain, and that's a mental illness thay are not aware of. They can ignore the threads, posts or they should seek help.

As in life there is the usual mix of people, from cheerful to downright negative, on this forum... Pick what you want to read and ignore the rest...
