Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Carbon bars with aero bars

My question is, is this possible? i was thinking about getting the fsa kwing or an itm carbon wing, and i want to use them with some vision tt clip-on mini bars. Is this heavily frowned on on a carbon bar? should i only do something like this on aluminium bars. oh, and wil they actually fit on a kwing. thanks.

Since no one has replied I'll just chime in and give my two cents.....if it were me, I would not clamp anything onto a carbon designed component. Those bars were probably not designed or engineered to have something clamped on them at a given point where you would be putting that much stress from leaning on a pair of aerobars. You might want to email the bar manufacturer and check their opinion.

Late responce.... :-)

Kestrel makes carbon bars where you can clamp aerobars to them. Not the SL version though...

This is impossible with the FSA K-Wing, as there is no room to clamp anything to the bar in the first place. Most carbon bar manufacturers advise against using clip on aero bars with their handlebars though.
