The only indoor riding I have ever done was on a dumb trainer. So, if you're doing a Zwift century, is there coasting or other "relief"? Is the route taken from actual roads?

But why try a century solo when you can ride with a group? Best way is to choose an appropriate pace partner for the effort/duration and you could get the century done in around 4 hrs.
As much as I ride Zwift, I've never felt the need to do a century. Metrics with a group are no issue at about 2:40 and I think my longest indoor ride is about 75 miles with a pace partner, about 3 hrs.

So this morning I started on epic KOM. Had no idea what this was and an hour went by I still wasn’t at the top.
At one point this guy gets next to me and stars trying to talk to me through the messenger thing. I’m doing zwift on my ipad and I can’t even reach it while i’m on the bike so I couldnt respond. He kept telling me to go settings and turning something off to make it easier to pedal. I couldn’t comprehend why he kept telling me this. What is the point of climbing in zwift if you make it easy?
Anyways, after about 6 attempts of talking to me and me not responding he disappeared. The last mile of that climb btw sucks. 16-20 percent grade.

However, what I discovered is that my trainer (a Kickr Snap) can only really mimic a 10% gradient. After that, it all feels the same (It's rated for more, but it turns out that the heavier you are, the lower the max % it can do, since the resistance is a function of both the gradient and your mass, and the trainer has a maximum resistance) So, I crawl up it at 4 mph, but it's not REALLY like a 20% gradient. So, the soul-crushing part is not how hard it is, but rather just how little difference stomping the pedals and going into the red makes!

Daughter #1 (and only) and newly green-carded husband are en route SEA-IAD! We saw them at Thanksgiving, but it will still be very nice.
And you'll love this, Doug. Could only happen to a neurologist: I have major cervical degeneration s/p two artificial disks, a fusion, and a little spinal cord damage back in 2008. Lately, I'm getting dizzy whenever I turn my head hard to the right. Could be "cervicogenic dizziness" from the neck muscles, a controversial diagnosis, or I could be pinching a vertebral artery against an osteophyte, rare but very serious. I'm trying to get ahold of my old surgeon from Walter Reed, who retired from the Army and went to GW, but the ****ers won't answer the phone or return my calls. I'm afraid anyone else will think I'm nuts.
