Like both-road and off road. Actually prefer off road, but due at an injury (not bike related), off road is off for now. Looking forward to some mtn bike trails. Good thing I enjoy road also.

On todays ride my left pedal start clicking with each stroke. It sounded like a noise maker for a dog. Click Click, Click Click. I stopped and tighten the tension a little bit, it was full loose. That didn’t help. I did notice that my left foot had much more float than my right foot. My right pedal was positioned on full loose. After several miles I ended up tightening the pedal all the way. That made the noise stop, but now un clipping is a PITA. I do like the no float though. Thoughts or suggestions?
Problem number 2: So I my wife re wrapped my bars last week, today was the first real ride on them. Before she wrapped them I re routed the brake cables since you guys were concerned for my vainly ness. I did not adjust the tension in either brake cable. On test rides everything was fine, and the brakes worked like always. Today, everytime I got out of the saddle the front brake would start to rub. But the weird part, the longer I was out of the saddle the worse it would get, and the only way to get it to stop would be for me to squeeze the brake. One squeeze and it would stop rubbing instantly until I got out of the saddle again. The new route must be putting tension on the cable, but I don’t understand why being in or out of the saddle would make a difference. I opened the brake up to give me more clearance but it still happened.

Been doing the eye diagnosis thing for the past few months. Today the results came in. Macular degeneration in the left eye. As expected. I go in Dec. 28 to schedule retinal surgery. This I was not expecting. Surgery will be a new experience for me. Hopefully it will be better than a needle to the eyeball.
In the interim I can begin diagnostic work on my ears, I'm practically deaf on the right side.

My usual Tuesday road ride friends are out of town so I rode the mtb solo. There is a loop I've been wanting to try starting with a fire road climb called "The Beast". I've climbed it before but there is a singletrack trail I've never been on. It was overcast but started clearing as I was climbing. I took some pics but some of them aren't bright or clear. Early on looking back, I started near the buildings in the distance.
Clouds were rolling over the hills.
You can see the cut for the road but it's steeper than it looks.

A little more than 2.5 miles of singletrack to get to the bottom, then a couple miles of trail through a park area.
There were some hikers in the park, all very friendly and three different people on the loop commented about me riding a regular bike and not an e-bike.
It was a fun ride and I'd do it again but I'd like to find a way to get back to the start without going on the road. There are a few miles of road with a couple small climbs and it's a shock to the system to have cars flying by after hours of being back in the hills.
