Seemed very bubble gummy to me. I just listened to Elvis Costello's version and it does sound like something he wrote, but not my favorite.

Haven't ridden winter with a drop bar bike, but I may try this winter. I need to get some pogies for drop bars. We visited daughter and son in law in Millington TN in December a few years ago and I rode with just the runner's gloves.
On one of our earliest dates Mrs. Dan and I found ourselves hanging on a glacier by our ice axe lanyards when we lost footing at the same time. I have crawled into a few burning buildings, worked maybe a hundred car wrecks as a medic, and I used to have certification as a Small Incident Wildland Fire Incident Commander (small fires, if it took more than a couple of crews I needed to turn it over to someone with a bigger budget)... So maybe that qualifies as a life of danger. Fires are really only dangerous if you don't play by their rules.
But when I lived in Newport Beach CA I didn't commute by bicycle. That would have been suicidal.

From my mountaineering days I have some Eddie Bauer Goose Down mittens... from before they started selling trendy crap. I have Cobra Fist Pogies that I need to put on the Fat Bike. Great for commuting. Then a pair of runner's gloves under the Cobra Fists. For below 0F I add mittens.

With flat pedals I'm sure. I don't ride in sub-freezing these days but I have in the past and I've always used clipless pedals. I have some Gore-tex socks which keep my feet dry in snow but get sweaty when climbing. I know Lake and others make clipless winter boots but I don't do cold enough to warrant the cost.

Got to take the Strada out for a spin yesterday. Hard to say if they were any slower than normal, but the ride was certainly better.

Footwear in winter, I have an old pair of Performance neoprene covered insulated booties that are fine down to about 20F. On those rare days when it’s colder than 20F I throw in a chemical hand/foot warmer. That’s fine down to 10F which is as cold as it ever gets around here. My problem continues to be my hands/fingers. May have to look into pogies which probably work fine but limit hand position on bars to just the hoods.

Something you can likely live with. The perceived ugliness. Hot bike. In this pic it looks like a triple triangle. I'm guessing that's a stick in the background.

So the new narrower bars were kind of a let down. It was better but I still experienced numbness. Thumb 1st 2nd and third fingers. Maybe less than normal but enough that it was a letdown. I repositioned the bars making the hoods a touch higher and slid the seat forward 1/4 ...3/8ths of an inch. It was somewhat better. Starting to think I should just get one bike professionally fitted and then duplicate that fit to the others. I dunno, I've tried almost nothing and I'm all out of ideas....🤪

If I was going to do more of that I would look for a thinner Gore-Tex glove. It's not fun if your fingers or toes are freezing.

The Ritchey has old mavic pro opens I believe. What free hub would I need to purchase to make it 11 spd compatible? Will only a Mavic free hub body work?
